Robert Cosby Jr., the son of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby, has died at the age of 23.

According to TMZ, Robert died on Monday (February 23) in Utah. Authorities told the outlet they responded to a possible overdose, but then it turned into a death investigation.

Mary and her husband, Robert Sr., confirmed their son's passing in a statement shared on social media: "Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow."

Following the news, Real Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen posted a message on Threads. “Devastatingly sad news out of SLC," he wrote. "This is every parent’s worst nightmare. My heart is broken for Mary, and I am sending all my love to her and Robert Sr.”

Robert’s struggles with addiction and mental health were documented on RHOSLC, including a candid conversation about drugs with his mom.

In a season five episode, Robert told Mary that he had been taking Xanax to “chill me out” and Adderall “to balance out the Xanax.” He also spoke about dealing with depression and suicide ideation.

“You’re the only reason I didn’t kill myself,” he told his mom. She then expressed her love for him. “You have to know I love you more than anything, more than anything in this world,” she shared. “I think I love you more than dad — don’t ever tell I said that. But you’re my friend, you’re my son, you’re my gift.”

Mary continued. “God gave you to me. You’re the only thing that ever made me happy. Before I had you I was never happy. You came, and you were so real. You was everything I hoped her in a person.”

Robert had been released from jail earlier this month after serving two months following legal issues, including a protective order violation involving his estranged wife.
