The Weeknd Completes His Trilogy With New Album 'Hurry Up Tomorrow'

The Weeknd takes his final bow on the last installment of his popular album trilogy.

On Friday, January 31, Abel Tesfaye released his sixth studio album Hurry Up Tomorrow via XO and Republic Records. The Canadian singer begins his latest body of work with "Wake Me Up" featuring Justice, which contains a sample of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." He continues with other outstanding tracks like "Cry For Me," "Open Hearts," "Reflections Laughing" featuring Florence + The Machine & Travis Scott, "Enjoy The Show" featuring Future, "The Abyss" featuring Lana Del Rey, and the title track. The final song ends where his breakthrough single "High For This" begins.

Hurry Up Tomorrow closes out his ongoing trilogy beginning with After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022). It also marks the end of his era as "The Weeknd." Tesfaye has been preparing fans for the final project under his iconic moniker for the past year. He first gave fans a preview of what to expect during his massive concert in Brazil last year, where he debuted songs from the album like "São Paulo" featuring Anitta and "Timeless" with Playboi Carti. He also dropped "Dancing In the Flames," however, the popular song did not make it to the final version of the album.

The album was originally scheduled to drop on January 24. However, Tesfaye decided to push it back a week due to the Los Angeles wildfires. He canceled his anticipated show at the Rose Bowl in L.A. and donated $1 million to organizations like the LAFD Foundation, GoFundMe’s Wildfire Relief Fund, and LA Regional Food Bank. He also plans to donate proceeds from his song “Take Me Back To LA” to the LA Regional Food Bank.

Tesfaye will also star in the album's companion film Hurry Up Tomorrow alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The psychological thriller is set to arrive in theaters on May 16. Until then, listen to The Weeknd's new album Hurry Up Tomorrow on iHeartRadio now and watch his performance of "Open Hearts" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" below.
