"Hitsville: The Making of Motown" is the best thing I saw last weekend.The documentary film that focuses on the period beginning with the birth of Motown in Detroit in 1958 until its relocation to Los Angeles in the early 1970s. The film tracks the unique system that Gordy assembled that enabled Motown to become the most successful record label of all time.You come away with a great appreciation for the visionary that is Berry Gordy.Always with an eye on the bottom line, the film shows how Gordy’s blueprint for Motown was a guide; but in the latter part, there was enough flexibility to “Innovate and not stagnate” a term Gordy uses in the film.Checkout the trailer and catch the film on Showtime…it’s worth it!!!
