One person killed in deadly alligator attack South Carolina

South Carolina law enforcement say one person is dead after being attacked by an alligator near a retention pond in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

According to a Facebook post from the Horry County Police Department, the alligator took hold of a person near the edge of a retention pond on Friday at the Myrtle Beach Gold and Yacht Club..

The alligator returned to the retention pond after the attack, the Sun News reported. The victim's body was recovered from the pond and the alligator was removed and euthanized. Authorities say the police department's investigation is still underway, and the victim's identity and a cause of death have not yet been released.
