Ga. Department of Public Safety commissioner resigns amid cheating scandal

ATLANTA, Ga. (WTOC) - The man in charge of the Georgia Department of Public Safety has resigned. The move follows a major cheating scandal involving dozens of Georgia State Patrol troopers.

DPS confirmed Colonel Mark McDonough resigned on Thursday and said the Governor’s Office will handle any further comment on the matter.

McDonough started with DPS in 1995. He moved up the ranks and became commissioner in 2011.
